13th SRUK/CERU International Symposium 2026

We are delighted to announce that the 13th SRUK/CERU International Symposium will take place in Oxford from 26 to 28 June 2026, chaired by Dr Ana Aragón González (NDCN, University of Oxford).

Under the theme “Collaborate to Innovate”, the symposium will bring together researchers and professionals to explore how collaboration across disciplines and sectors drives innovation.

This year’s edition will take place across four exceptional venues in Oxford, each reflecting the city’s unique combination of historical heritage and cutting-edge research.

The programme will open on Friday at the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery with a satellite event featuring Prof Sonia Contera’s talk “Six Problems Science Cannot Solve”, followed by a roundtable on the philosophy and history of science. In the evening, the symposium will officially begin at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, with the Opening Ceremony, the SRUK/CERU Merit Award, and a keynote lecture by Dr Sara García Alonso. The day will conclude with a reception among the museum’s collections, a telescope session, and an informal social gathering.

On Saturday, the Mathematical Institute will host the core scientific programme, including a keynote lecture, short talks selected from abstracts, poster sessions, and the roundtable “Partnerships that Drive Innovation”, alongside the SRUK/CERU Annual General Meeting. The day will close with a concert at St Michael at the North Gate and a Pint of Science, Arts and Social Dinner.

On Sunday, the programme will continue at the Mathematical Institute with a careers seminar, an interactive workshop on “Communication in Collaboration”, and a keynote selected from abstract submissions, followed by the awards ceremony and closing session. The symposium will conclude with a final networking lunch and a punting activity.

About SRUK/CERU

SRUK/CERU was created in July 2011 (officially established in June 2012) to promote communication within the community of Spanish Researchers working in the United Kingdom by creating a social network that facilitates the sharing of professional and life experiences. The association has encouraged this communication via the establishment of Constituencies throughout the UK and Departments and Committees supporting our activity.

During all these years of intense and pioneering work, SRUK/CERU has consolidated as a society that brings together Spanish researchers in the UK to give them a united voice that impacts society, influences science policy and closes the gap between researchers in the UK and Spain.
