About The Speaker

Candela Antón de Vez

Candela Antón is a science communicator and anthropologist in the making. She has long been pursuing something remarkable: getting millions of people hooked on conversations about human evolution, anthropology, archaeology, and what it means to be Homo sapiens in the 21st century.

With over 1.3 million followers and 50 million views, she has proven that science doesn’t have to be boring or locked away in academic journals.

She is the mind behind “Desenterrando el Pasado” (“Unearthing the Past”), the videopodcast produced by National Geographic and the Palarq Foundation, and in 2026, she launches her new project, “Sapiens de Sofá” (“Couch Sapiens”). She is also the author of “¿Y ahora qué?” (“What Now?”), published by Penguin Random House — an accessible yet rigorous journey through human evolution and our condition as a species.

She writes regularly for outlets such as El Salto, El Orden Mundial, and Ajoblanco magazine.

In 2025 founded MPATHY, a science communication and funding platform designed to bring science closer to people and people closer to science.

She studies Anthropology and Human Evolution at the URV-UOC and studied Humanities at the UPF.

She also has a background in theatre anthropology, acting, production, and voice presenting.
